Meet OUR TEAM
Director- CINDY LESSARD
Cindy has been an educator since 1988, and has devoted 18 years of her career to being a teacher or preschool director
“Through my years as a preschool teacher and Director I have had the opportunity to observe many programs and it is clear to me that Intown offers an ideal environment in which to promote the social, emotional, and cognitive needs of the communities’ youngest children. Each child feels the security and assurance from a parent or caregiver while they are encouraged to explore and discover the world around them. I look forward to meeting and supporting the families at Intown and I am excited about continuing its long legacy of recognizing the importance of music, art, and play in a young child’s development.”
Lead Teacher- Liz Jalali
Liz Jalali comes to Intown with broad experience as both a parent with classroom responsibilities and later a staff member at Concord St. Andrews Cooperative Nursery School. A graduate of the University of Virginia, Liz spent many years as a fundraiser for non-profit organizations in the DC area, but changed careers when working with young children became a passion. She is currently completing her certificate in Early Childhood Development and is excited to be working with the youngest learners and getting to know the families of the Intown community. Liz and her husband Conrad live in Bethesda with their two middle school aged daughters.
Teaching Assistants- Jenny Zack & Mary Fiorile
Each year Intown employs two Georgetown seniors to serve as teaching assistants. Joining Intown this year are Mary Fiorile and Jenny Zack.
Mary will graduate in May with a degree in Finance and Accounting. She has volunteered with DC Reads at Plummer Elementary School helping fourth graders improve their literacy skills, and privately tutored Elementary, Middle and High school students in Math, Science, Reading and SAT Prep. Mary has a wonderful way with young children and is a well-loved addition to the Intown team.
Jenny is a Psychology Major focusing on Disability Studies. She interned under Dr. Elizabeth Adams at the River School, a school that implements a refined inclusion model mainstreaming students with hearing aids or cochlear implants with hearing students. She has observed and assisted with a variety of cognitive and achievement testing for young children. The children adore Miss Jenny and we adore having her at Intown.
